The Company's primary machineable tooling material is called Synform. Synform is made of syntactic foam specifically formulated for use within the plastics industry. The material is easy to machine and is especially suited for use in the fabrication of plug assists for use in thermoforming and vacuum forming applications. The advantages of Synform are as follows:

PRE-CAST SYNTACTIC FOAM TOOLING MATERIAL FOR PLUG ASSIST THERMOFORMING APPLICATIONS

SYNFORM syntactic foam eliminates many of the problems associated with metal and wood plug assist tooling in thermoforming and vacuum forming applications. It is a lightweight composite tooling material designed specifically to provide low thermal conductivity and heat capacity. This special combination of properties reduces plug sticking and eliminates the need for expensive heating elements. At less than half the weight of aluminum, SYNFORM also reduces the equipment wear associated with metal tooling. SYNFORM is available in a variety of solid bar and block shapes. Standard carbide-tipped tools will easily machine SYNFORM, so replacement plugs can be quickly machined to a high degree of surface definition with minimal downtime. SYNTACTIC FOAM MODELING/TOOLING BOARD

SYNBOARD is an easily machined non-abrasive syntactic foam which maintains a high degree of tolerance and dimensional stability under temperature and humidity extremes. It produces little dust when machined with standard woodworking tools, and is capable of reproducing intricate surface detail with three and five axis milling equipment. SYNBOARD is recommended for modeling and proofing applications in aerospace and automotive master models, for CNC proofing of complex designs, and for dimensionally stable foundry patterns. Material is available in monolithic shapes cast to customer specified dimensions of practically any size, or if preferred, in standard 2"x16"x60" sheets.
